Seoul International Fireworks Festival 2024

I went to the “Seoul International Fireworks Festival 2024,” which marked its 20th anniversary this year. This event is known as a large-scale fireworks festival that attracts countless spectators every year and is one of the major highlights that colors autumn in Seoul.

It is said that more than one million people gathered again this year around Yeouido, where the event was held. I heard that some enthusiastic fans had secured their spots as early as 7 a.m., but I took a more relaxed approach and watched from Dongjak Bridge, about 6 kilometers away in a straight line. Although it was quite far, I was able to avoid the crowds and enjoy the fireworks in a calm atmosphere, which in the end turned out to be a good choice.

However, because of the distance, I could hardly see the fireworks launched at lower altitudes, and in terms of impact, it felt a little less impressive. Still, I appreciated being able to enjoy not only the fireworks but also the night views of the Han River and Yeouido at the same time. Being able to experience the festival from a different perspective than from Yeouido itself is part of the charm of such events.

As I headed home, I found myself thinking that next year I might try to discover a new viewing spot.
