Korean Drama “Everyone Is Fighting Their Own Worthlessness” Review | The Best Drama of the Year

The Korean drama “Everyone Is Fighting Their Own Worthlessness” began airing on April 18, 2026.

The reason I started watching this series was simple: it starred Koo Kyo-hwan and Go Yoon-jung together.

Hwang Dong-man, played by Koo Kyo-hwan, is the only member of the “Group of Eight” who has yet to succeed as a film director.
Meanwhile, Byun Yuna, played by Go Yoon-jung, is a PD who tries to understand him.

This drama carefully explores the question:

“Why do people continue fighting against their own sense of worthlessness?”

It approaches this theme through the perspectives of each character.

Honestly, episodes 1 and 2 feel a bit heavy and can be difficult to get into.
But around episode 3, I found myself completely drawn into the story.

A reality that never works out.
An inferiority complex that never disappears.
Jealousy and anxiety.

Dong-man is definitely not a “good person.”
There are many moments where he hurts the people around him.

Even so, this drama never simply condemns the ugly sides of human nature.

People who try to understand each other.
Relationships that cannot fully let go.
The emotional distance between the characters felt incredibly real.

The screenplay was written by Park Hae-young.

If you loved “My Mister” or “My Liberation Notes,” this drama will almost certainly resonate with you.

I would also strongly recommend it to anyone who enjoys dramas like “Misaeng,” which focus deeply on human nature itself.

Now that I’ve finished the final episode, the sense of loss is overwhelming.

At the same time, there were several storylines that felt unresolved, such as Dong-man’s relationship with his brother’s daughter and Yuna’s relationship with her biological mother.

Perhaps that was unavoidable within a 12-episode format, but it also made me wish the series had lasted longer.

This is not a flashy drama.
But after finishing it, the emotions quietly stay with you.

That is the kind of drama it was.
