There were many exhibits related to EVs and next-generation mobility technologies, making it clear why the event\u2019s name has changed to a \u201cMobility Show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 500px;\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/7R31118_cut.jpg\" \/><\/center><\/p>\n<p><strong>However, Toyota, Honda, and Lexus were nowhere to be seen..\u3002<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As a Japanese resident in Korea, this was the point that stood out the most to me.<br \/>\nAt previous Seoul Motor Shows, Japanese manufacturers had a clear presence, so their absence this time came as something of a shock.<\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 500px;\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/7R31109.jpg\" \/><\/center><\/p>\n<div style=\"height:0.5em;\"><\/div>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 500px;\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/7R31091.jpg\" \/><\/center><\/p>\n<div style=\"height:0.5em;\"><\/div>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 500px;\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/7R31115.jpg\" \/><\/center><\/p>\n<h3>Why Didn\u2019t Toyota and Honda Exhibit?<\/h3>\n<p>Although no detailed official explanation was provided, several possible factors come to mind.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The scale of Japanese car sales in the Korean market<\/li>\n<li>A shift toward online announcements and launches<\/li>\n<li>The balance between exhibition costs and marketing effectiveness<\/li>\n<li>An exhibition structure centered mainly on Korean manufacturers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Living in Korea, I regularly sense changes in the automotive market.<br \/>\nJapanese cars certainly maintain a presence, but they are no longer in a leading role.<\/p>\n<p>Even so, as someone who had hoped to see manufacturers from various countries competing side by side in the same venue, I couldn\u2019t help but feel a bit disappointed.<\/p>\n<h3>Korean Youth and the Growing Distance from Cars<\/h3>\n<p>As a Japanese resident in Korea, one thing I feel in everyday life is that for younger generations, cars are no longer a \u201cnecessity.\u201d<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The expansion and convenience of subways and buses<\/li>\n<li>The widespread use of ride-hailing apps<\/li>\n<li>High parking costs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the other hand, interest in luxury cars and supercars remains strong.<br \/>\nIt feels as though cars as everyday transportation and cars as symbols of status or hobbies are gradually becoming separate categories.<\/p>\n<p>Such social changes may also be part of the reason why the atmosphere of the motor show itself has evolved.<\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 500px;\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/7R31120_cut.jpg\" \/><br \/>\nGenesis<\/center>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>My Honest Impressions as a Japanese Resident in Korea<\/h3>\n<p>The 2025 Seoul Mobility Show was calm and future-oriented in tone.<br \/>\nIn that sense, it certainly reflected the direction of the times.<\/p>\n<p>However, for those who remember the intense competition and glamour among global manufacturers in the past, it felt somewhat lacking.<\/p>\n<p>From the perspective of a Japanese resident in Korea, the absence of Japanese manufacturers seemed to symbolize more than just participation decisions\u2014it appeared to reflect the broader transformation of the Korean automotive market.<\/p>\n<p>Will Japanese manufacturers return next year?<br \/>\nAs I continue my life in Korea, I hope to keep an eye on how things unfold.<\/p>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 500px;\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/7R31094.jpg\" \/><\/center><\/p>\n<div style=\"height:0.5em;\"><\/div>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 500px;\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/7R31111.jpg\" \/><\/center><\/p>\n<div style=\"height:0.5em;\"><\/div>\n<p><center><img decoding=\"async\" style=\"width: 100%; max-width: 500px;\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/04\/7R31108.jpg\" \/><\/center><\/p>\n<div style=\"height: 6em;\"><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I visited the \u201c2025 Seoul Mobility Show\u201d held at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, Korea.
